Irian
Jaya, with its more than 678 recorded species, contributes around 44% of all
Indonesian's birds total. It is also the second place on earth which inherits
the second largest number of Birds Of Paradise. From all 43 species of this
amazing heaven birds, which are only distributed from eastern Australia to New
Guinea, west to the north Moluccas, 28 species can be seen at Irian Jaya's
areas, with 5 species of them are endemic to this region.
JAMURSBA MEDI This world's third largest turtle and
the endangered Leatherback Turtle (dermochelys corisea) is nesting here besides
four other rare species: Hawksbill Turtle, Olive Ridley Turtle, Flat Back
Turtle and the Green Turtle.
The
coastal forest is rich with myriad of both floral and faunal. In 1994 a species
of the tree Kangaroo never know to outside was discovered besides the rare and
exotic birds of Papua such as Red bird of Paradise, Cockatoo, parrots, Western
crowned pigeon, Hornbills, cus - cus and many more...
Day 01 Jakarta arrival. Transfer and overnight at
hotel.
Day 02 Fly to Sorong and transfer to a 3 star hotel
in Sorong for your accommodation.
Day 03 Take a boat ride for about 5 hours to Jamursba
Medi Island. Set up camp for overnight or at the ranger's simple
cabin.
Days 04 - 08 full 5 days explore the areas for
birdwatching in the daylight and watch the sea turtles including the Giant
Leather Back Turtle landing on the beach for nesting in the evening.

lunch return to Sorong. Overnight a 3 star hotel.
