The Matahari Island Resort is situated on Pulau Macan Besar ( Great Tiger Island ) and was recently as October 1992.

It is a central plateau at approximately 2.5 meters above sea level, along the center of the island with good quality of sand.

It's marine life is well developed, with Clearwater visibility at 10 to 15 meters depth offering exceptional view of colorful tropical fishes and coral.

Most people will reach it in around two hours on the modern cruisers which leave from the Marina Ancol. Some arrive by helicopter since the the Resort has its own helipad.

Accommodations:
On the island you find 83 two-storied and nicely furnished cottages, all with double bedrooms and an extra sofa- bed. Each bedroom has its own private bath, air conditioning and telephone - the comforts of home on a tropical island. Most of the cottages have been built around the shoreline so the balconies offer you the prospect of tantalizing views over the surrounding islands and a front row seat to watch the drama of spectacular sunset.

Recreation Facilities:
For sporting facilities include two tennis courts, volley ball, badminton, table tennis, a jogging track, floor chess, billiards, sea - water rock pool and children playground. jet skiing, wind surfing, snorkeling and scuba diving (all water sports equipment can be rented on site at the Marine Shop). Nighttime fishing expeditions can be arranged too. For an evening's entertainment on shore there is the Bamboo Bar which karaoke, disco music and movie presentations. The main restaurant offers buffet - style Indonesian and European food.

Meeting Facilities:
Furnished with the necessary meeting equipment the Bamboo Meeting room can seat from 40 to 100 persons. In case you have rented the whole resort for your party there is simple seating capacity up to 150 persons in the main restaurant too.
