Meet
one of the human's closest living relatives in animal kingdoms: Orangutans
(pongo pygmaeus), living free at their natural habitat in Tanjung Puting
National Park, Central Kalimantan. You will explore the quit river on a
traditional boat (many past tourists of us call it "African Queen" river style
boat) to visit the Camp Leakey, Tanjung Harapan and Pondok Tanguy, the
rehabilitation stations inside the park and having some short walk around the
stations. You will also have change to dug-out canoeing near the lodge to watch
the Proboscis "pinnocchio" monkeys playing in trees on the riverbanks in the
peaceful afternoon. For overnight, you can having adventurous night on the 6 x
2 meter wide boat (simple toilet, thin mattresses and pillow available) in
order to get better change to watch the animals activities in the early
morning. No adventure experiences required in this wonderful trip.
Day 01 Arrive Pangkalan Bun Airport. Drive to Kumai,
boating to the park. Visit Tanjung Harapan Centre to meet the orphaned
orangutans. Ovenright on boat.
Day 02 Visit Camp Leakey Centre and Pondok Tanguy.
Trekking around the stations. Overnight on boat.
Day 03 Return to Pangkalan Bun Airport for flight
back to Jakarta.
Note: Pangkalan Bun Airport is accessible by daily
flight from Bali and Jakarta International Airports via Semarang.
